Our Herefordshire Supported Housing for Young People Project (SHYPP) is celebrating winning a national Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) Supporting People award.
This award recognises projects that have made a significant difference to the lives of diverse and often excluded groups.
SHYPP, which has helped more than 3,000 young people in less than 10 years to manage their tenancies and avoid homelessness, prison and debt, was named winner at a London awards ceremony.
Separately, a community project which successfully reduced anti-social behaviour (ASB) by 94 per cent on a Coventry estate, also gained a national award. The Mossdale Improvement Project was named the winner of the Social Landlords Crime and Nuisance Group awards in the best practice category for reducing ASB and increasing community confidence.
The project, which has since been listed as a good practice case study by HouseMark, is a partnership between residents of Mossdale Close in Radford, Whitefriars Housing, which owns most of the homes on the estate, Coventry City Council’s neighbourhood management team, the police and other agencies.
