Group structure and boards

We are a complex business with a number of different parts all working together to give people homes in places they are proud to live and work.

The Executive management team of five, led by Kevin Rodgers our Chief Executive, is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the Group. Overall responsibility for managing the Group rests with the Group Board. This comprises 9 members and includes the Chairs of each of the individual member association boards as well as independent members who sit on the board because of their particular specialist skills that help us to manage our business to the highest standards.

Colin Dennis (Chair)
Colin has enjoyed a distinguished career in the financial and aviation sectors as well as a wealth of experience in non-executive roles in regulated sectors including the NHS, social housing and adult care and social services.
Peter MortonPeter Morton (Chair of Whitefriars Housing)
Peter joined the Whitefriars Board in September 2013 as an Independent Member, and became Chair in May 2014. He has extensive Executive and Board Member experience within the Social Housing Sector.
James Brooks-WardJames Brooks-Ward
James is an independent Member and has been a Member of the Board since 2009. He has 20 years of business experience in the events and exhibition sector.
Richard GraingerRichard Grainger (Chair of Signature Homes)
Richard became a Group Board Member in September 2014, having previously been a Member of the former Kemble Board. His business experience has been built up over a number of years within the private sector.
John CreswellJohn Creswell (Chair of West Mercia Homes)
John joined the Homes Board in February 2015, and appointed to Chair of that Board in May. He has spent many years working in Local Government, Housing and Regeneration, but is now a Director of his own businesses.
Crispin PassmoreCrispin Passmore (Chair of Finance, Audit and Risk Committee)
Crispin, an independent member, is Strategy Director at the Legal Services Board. Before that, he was Executive Director of Policy at the Legal Services Commission.
Abigail Davies
Abigail has extensive experience of working with government and the media to shape public policy, and producing ideas and materials that help improve services in housing organisations.
Danielle OumDanielle Oum (Chair of Family Optima)
has held senior roles in publishing, regeneration, the NHS and employment and skills. Currently Danielle is Head of Membership, driving a programme of transformational change across a national federation of charities.

Margaret CowardMargaret Coward
has worked in housing for 30 years for local authorities, ALMOs and in the voluntary sector. She has held senior roles in housing management, estate regeneration and supported housing. Currently Head of Housing for a charity providing supported housing to young families.
Richard NowellRichard Nowell
Richard joined the Family Optima Board in July 2015. He is a chartered accountant with experience of auditing and financial reporting in the housing sector, particularly in respect of development programmes and treasury activities. He is currently a Finance Manager at Walsall Housing Group.
Kalwinder SandhuKalwinder Sandhu
Kalwinder started her professional life as a software engineer working for Marconi, becoming a senior manager responsible for developing coretele communications software. She subsequently worked for the NHS and Department for Education setting up and implementing national programmes.
Michael SullivanMichael Sullivan
joined Optima’s Board in April 2014. Michael is a Chartered Management Accountant and works at Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, prior to which he was the Associate Director of Finance at Dudley Community Services.
Pip AlkinsPip Allkins
customer in one of our city centre developments. Retired, but previously undertook employment counselling roles with the Apex Trust, a national charity working closely with the Probation Service, the YWCA / YMCA and Prospects Careers Limited, a national successor to the Careers Service.
Lloyd McLartyLloyd McLarty
is an IT Technical Consultant, and has been working in IT for some 20 plus years. He is currently working as a Systems Technician for the NHS in Derby. Lloyd also heads a Media – Audio Visual Team for a Birmingham charity.
Jane SargeantJane Sargeant
has been a tenant at Newhall Hill development in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter since 1998.In 2000 she joined the West Midlands office of the Engineering Employers Federation as Secretary/PA to the Director of Training and Education Liaison.
Colin WilliamsColin Williams
Born in Lee Bank, a self employed Early Years Practitioner (EYP). A registered childminder with PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years). A member of Professional Occupational Standards in childcare and sits on the committee for Men In Childcare.
Tricia GbinigieTricia Gbinigie
is a customer within the Attwood Green development of Edgbaston. She is currently employed with a professional association/ union in business development. In addition to this, Tricia operates her own small online business retailing products that reflect her environmentally ethical values.
Angela Evans
is a customer in the east side of the city and was elected to the Board in March 2016. Angela works for Asda as a personal shopper and is a member of the Asda Colleague Voice which is a group of elected colleagues who attend meetings to voice concerns and opinions of colleagues.

Chair of the West Mercia Homes Board and Co Founder of the Interactive Tool kits consultancy. John has over 30 years experience of senior management roles in Local Government,Housing Associations, and Regeneration Trusts.

George W DavidgeGeorge W Davidge
George became a West Mercia Homes customer in 1997. He is a very active member of West Mercia Homes Customer Panels and recently was vice-chairman of the Group’s Joint Customer Panel. He is also a trustee of the Worcester Community Trust.

Peter DunfordPeter Dunford
Peter had a career in the food industry, was a youth worker and a member of West Mercia Police Authority until its dissolution in 2012. He became a Member of the then Kemble Board in June 2012.

Helen Scarrett
Helen Scarrett is the CEO of a charity which runs community centres and community projects in Worcester. She is well connected to the voluntary and community sector networks in Worcestershire.

Catherine StubbingsCatherine Stubbings
Catherine’s career has encompassed housing management and policy roles at local and regional level. She joined the then Kemble Board in July 2012.

Gideon White
Gideon joined the Board in December 2015. With a continuing career in senior management roles in higher education and his own management consultancy service, he is also a Trustee of the Academy of Youth.

Sangita Surridge
Sangitais a Finance Director at a facilities management company called ‘Place Partnership’, a limited company jointly owned by a number of local authorities, police and fire and rescue authorities.

Andrew Winscom
Andrew is a Chartered Surveyor experienced in residential and commercial surveying. He also belongs to the Institute of Revenues, Rating & Valuation and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, has worked for large and small companies and run his own surveying firm.

Philip GreenPhilip Green
Phil joined the Board in December 2015. Phil has worked in the housing association field for the whole of his career, most recently as Managing Director for Marches Housing Association in Leominster.

Lisa Nicholls
Lisa is a CIH qualified housing professional with over 20 years’ experience in social housing with significant experience and demonstrable success in leading change with strength in service improvement, identifying and building on opportunities to enhance services,business and reputation.

Hannah is a customer Board Member, and is a qualified Certified Chartered Accountant working for a local business support services company. She also works for local community organisations.
