Our award-winning internships project to help young disabled people into work has made the final of another prestigious awards ceremony.
The Supported Internships project, which scooped the 24housing Award for Best Apprenticeship Scheme last October, has made the final of the Tpas Awards, which recognise the best housing projects across the UK.
We work with Hereward College, in Coventry, on the Supported Internships project – hosting interns in teams across the organisation – from our ICT and Finance teams, to our CleanWorks and Customer Services teams.
Working closely with a job coach from Hereward College we take each intern on as a team member and support them to flourish in their role.
As a result of the programme, five interns have gone on to gain permanent employment with us.
Claire Hardwick, our Head of Customer Involvement and Engagement, said: “We’re so pleased that having already won an award for this project we have now made the final of another national ceremony.
“This is a testament to all of the hard work of our interns and host teams across the organisation which has made a very real difference.
“Our fingers are crossed for the final.”
Our project will go up against housing providers from around the country in the Excellence in Employment Skills and Training category at the final of the Tpas Awards on March 29th in Manchester.
