A Scout hut in Coventry is set to get a £20,000 makeover with the help of HomeWorks.
A team from HomeWorks, our in-house repairs and maintenance provider, will lead a renovation at the Satchwell Centre, in Mossdale Close in Radford, after a representative from the Scouts got in touch to ask for help.
Rehearsals for the Coventry Gang Show – which has been staged in the city since 1961 – have been held in the building for decades.
HomeWorks will lead a team of contractors which includes Dulux, Magnet, Hardyman Group, Lakers, MIC, Jewson, Rise Scaffolding as well as our gardening and cleaning services GreenWorks and CleanWorks, to breathe new life into the building for the Scouts and the local community.
They will give the building a complete makeover – including a new floor, new kitchen, new communal room, a complete redecoration, new guttering and facias and work on the grounds of the building.
Steve Kirk, Director of Homeworks, said: “When we were contacted to see if we could breathe some new life into the building we were only too happy to help.
“We hope that when the work is finished this can be a great space for the Scouts to rehearse for their annual show but also a great space for the community to use.”
Clive Bennett, who is Production Director for the Coventry Gang Show, said: “We’re delighted WM Housing and all of the contractors who have agreed to be involved have stepped in to help us.
“In truth the building has seen better days and this work will make a massive difference. It will mean the Satchwell Centre is a nicer place for the Scouts to rehearse for the show and we also hope that it will become a space that the community wants to use.
“We can’t wait to see what it will look like once the work is completed.”
Work on the Satchwell Centre is now under way and is expected to be completed by November.
