Customer service team in running for top award

The Customer Service Centre Quality Team at WM Housing Group has been shortlisted for ‘Frontline Team of the Year’ in the national Housing Heroes Awards.

Quality Team Manager Eden Bailey has also been shortlisted as one of the top five finalists in the ‘Rising Star’ category of the awards, which celebrate outstanding work by the housing sector’s unsung heroes.

This new team is focused on quality from recruitment, through induction and ongoing coaching and training.

Award winners will be announced at a ceremony on 25th June, hosted by awards organiser the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and Inside Housing.

Director of Customer Services Lourdes Sharpe said: “It’s wonderful that our focus on quality is being recognised by the sector as a whole. It builds on what has been a good year so far, with performance improvements across the whole service centre.”

Quality Team Manager Eden Bailey, who champions making housing a career of choice for young people, is thrilled to have made it through to the top five of the ‘Rising Star’ awards.

Eden, who joined the team a year ago, said: “I’m pleased to be able to use this recognition as a platform to campaign about attracting the next generation of housing talent to drive the sector forward.

“One of the most rewarding aspects of working in housing is knowing that I can make a difference to people’s lives, dreams and aspirations.”

Eden, originally from the Philippines, started her housing career in 2006 as a Housing Assistant for a local authority.

She worked her way up the career ladder, with jobs in anti-social behaviour prevention, tenancy management, estate inspections and supported housing. She graduated with a housing degree from Birmingham City University in 2012.

Eden has reached out to many young people to share her knowledge and housing journey, and has long been a strong advocate of mentoring after benefiting from this kind of support herself.

She added: “Because of this, I would like to give something back to help develop young professionals. I’m currently a volunteer mentor for the CIH and within WM Housing Group.”
