WM Housing are delighted to announce that our Health and Safety Team have been shortlisted for the Central Services Team of the year award at the Housing Heroes Awards this year.
The team have been shortlisted after a truly outstanding year which saw the team vastly improve health and safety compliance across the organisation.
The results of the December health and safety audit last year speak volumes about the team’s work. The average health and safety score across the organisation is now an outstanding 94%, compared to 65% in our June audit.
Following these audits, WM Housing was officially audited by The Royal Social for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) earlier this year and became the first housing association to achieve the Level 5 Diamond Award with a performance rating of 95%.
Chief Executive Kevin Rodgers sums up the achievements of the team: “This is a truly fantastic result. Health and safety is our number one priority. The team were given a remit to drive this and they have absolutely smashed it.
“I’m delighted to see their hard work being recognised by Housing Heroes Awards. I’ve got everything crossed the team win at the awards ceremony later this year, they definitely deserve it!”
Interim Head of Health and Safety Sanjay Dhir, adds: “A huge amount of effort has gone into improving health and safety across the organisation and it’s brilliant to see it paying off.
“I’m delighted the health and safety team has been shortlisted for the Central Services Team of the year at the Housing Heroes Awards.
“What really matters here is the cultural change the team has helped to bring about. People no longer see health and safety as an add-on, they see it as integral to their work – and the results of the internal and external audits have demonstrated this.
“We will continue to make sure health and safety sits at the heart of all of our work.”
The Housing Heroes Awards are talking place at Manchester Central this year on Monday 24th June.
The awards, which are jointly organised by Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing, give organisations the chance to reward the hard work of outstanding teams and individuals.
