More than 70 housing professionals came together for our free event to explore the leadership challenges we face in the housing sector.
Leadership of the Future took place at KPMG’s Birmingham office on Tuesday (11 September) to explore the challenges presented by the culture of management and leadership in the housing sector.
It featured guest speaker Nick Jankel, the founder of pioneering leadership and development company Switch On, and a panel of senior housing leaders.
The event followed our Women in Leadership event in March which featured an all female panel.
This time we broadened the theme out to explore the wider leadership challenges that a lack of diversity at senior levels reveals, mirroring the last event with an all male panel which featured Kevin Rodgers, Group Chief Executive of WM Housing, Glenn Harris, Chief Executive of Midland Heart, Boris Worrall, Group Chief Executive of Rooftop Housing Group and Eddie Kelly, Director of Brand and Engagement at Catalyst.
Kate Still, our Chief Operating Officer, opened the event before an enlightening talk by Nick Jankel and an engaging panel debate.
Kate said: “We are delighted so many people came to this event to explore the crucial issue of the culture of management and leadership in housing.
“Our previous Women in Leadership event was a big success and it revealed that it was impossible to understand the challenges facing women and other minority groups in gaining senior positions, without exploring the wider challenges we face in terms of the culture of our current leadership.
“This event was a really engaging, open and honest way to explore exactly this and we look forward to working with our steering group partners to take this agenda forward.”
