Keep Herefordshire warm

West Mercia Homes are once again teaming up with Keep Herefordshire Warm and Age UK Hereford to offer free home visits and energy saving measures to our Herefordshire based tenants.

During the home visits, a trained energy advisor will provide free and impartial advice on a range of topics including;

  • Energy bills, tariffs & suppliers
  • Problems with heating systems
  • Heating control issues
  • How to stay warm at home
  • Financial grants and support

Also, at the same time they can install a range of free energy measures, such as: very low energy lightbulbs, radiator panels and draught proofing.

The funding is delivered in partnership with Age UK Hereford and Localities, and is only available to people aged 60 or over. However if you would like some energy advice and are not over 60, please let us know and we can arrange something similar.

A number of tenants benefited from this service last year. Phil Newcombe, the energy advisor who delivers the checks said:

“The WM Homes households that I visited last year were very happy with the outcome of their visits. Many tenants were struggling with their heating controls. By visiting at home, I was able to help demonstrate how to better use existing controls and provide other tips and advice. I can also help apply for discounts and grants – like the £140 eligible customers can receive off their bill through the Warm Homes Discount”
