A Chartered Institute of Housing training scheme, which will see 250 staff gain a Level 3 qualification in Housing Practice, has been shortlisted for an award by 24Housing.
This is the first shortlisting as Citizen, which WM Housing Group will become in September. Nine other housing associations have also been shortlisted in the Best Training Scheme category.
Every member of the Housing and Care and Supported Housing Teams at Citizen will complete a bespoke training programme with the CIH. This Level 3 certificate covers eight key areas of essential housing knowledge.
Already 16 colleagues have started their programme and the rest of the training will be rolled out over the next four years in cohorts of 60.
It is the first time a housing provider has committed to putting all its staff through a professional course with the CIH.
Our Chief Operating Officer, Kate Still, said: “It’s brilliant that we have been shortlisted for this award by 24Housing with a scheme which will help our staff develop their career.
“We introduced the training as we want to make sure that our teams have the knowledge and skills needed to do a great job.
“This respected and professional qualification with the CIH shows that we are committed to our staff and to be nominated for this award is fantastic.
“We’ve got our fingers crossed for the ceremony later this year in October.”
The Level 3 Housing Practice qualification takes a year to achieve and is made up of five assignments which are a mix of face to face study and individual research.
As part of the training staff are offered ongoing support from a tutor and resources through the CIH’s Housing Academy.
The awards will be presented at the Ricoh Arena on October 10.
