Shropshire man celebrates return to home village thanks to new Signature development

A Shropshire man is celebrating returning to his home village, as he prepares to move in to a new housing development built by Signature New Homes.

Daniel Sherwood, who was born and bred in Highley, has been struggling to get onto the property ladder in the popular village for some time.

But now, thanks to the government’s ‘Help to Buy’ scheme, he is soon to move into a two-bedroom house at Sherbourne Gardens, off Bridgnorth Road, in Highley, Shropshire.

As Signature’s 100th customer, the sales team presented Daniel with a £1,000 online shopping voucher to help him settle into his new home.

Daniel, a 27-year-old engineer, said: “I’m from Highley originally, all my family live in the area and I’ve worked in the village for 10 years, but I was struggling to afford to get on the property ladder here.

“I was living in an apartment in Kidderminster for two years, but now I’ve moved in with my aunt in the village.

“She lives across the road from this development, so I’ve been watching my new home being built – it’s been great to watch the progress and see it take shape.

“The Help to Buy scheme has been really good news, making it affordable for me to move back into Highley. My life is here, so I’m really excited to finally have my own home in the village.”

Daniel added: “I’ve been very impressed with the quality of the building development and the fact that all these homes are being completed to a high specification.”

Sherbourne Gardens is a development of 35 quality family homes – 25 Signature New Homes properties for open market sale, and 10 available for shared ownership. The scheme is a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom houses.

After building work started in July last year, the first homes were completed in February and completion of the development is scheduled for autumn this year.

Annette Baskett, Assistant Director of Sales at Signature New Homes, said: “Sherbourne Gardens is an exclusive development of much-needed family homes in a very popular location, and our first housing scheme in Shropshire.

“The development has been a great success, with lots of interest from potential homebuyers. We are now down to our last few remaining properties on site, having sold our homes off plan.”
