Staff at WM Housing have been celebrating their recent win at a charity rounders tournament organised to support the Chartered Institute of Housing’s presidential appeal which raised £16k for Women’s Aid.
WM Housing scooped the Housing Cup trophy in the grand final which took place in Birmingham on Thursday 19 July following a number of regional heats across the UK In May and June. They beat a team made up of staff from Aster and Orbit in the final after winning every game in the competition
Clare Garner, assistant director from WM Housing said: “The rounders tournament has been a fantastic event and we are absolutely delighted to have helped raise such a great total for Women’s Aid. This was our very first rounders team, so we weren’t sure what to expect but we gave it our all and had so much fun. Winning was definitely a bonus.”
Alison Inman, CIH president, who presented the Housing Cup to our team after the final, said: “The Housing Cup has been an absolutely brilliant event and I’m amazed by the total that has been raised.
“I would like to thank every single team and every person involved in what has been a massive success and something which will make a real difference.”
Five teams contested the grand final – WM Housing, South Liverpool Homes, the Aster and Orbit team, Notting Hill Genesis and Coastal Housing.
Teams involved in the competition raised funds which went towards the total.
The money raised during the Housing Cup will be split across Women’s Aid in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
