Worcestershire customers to get new repairs provider

Our in-house repairs provider is busy preparing for October 1st when the repairs and maintenance contract for Worcestershire switches from Fortis Property Care to HomeWorks.

HomeWorks, our in-house repairs provider, won the contract to provide repairs services to around 3,500 West Mercia Homes properties throughout Worcestershire.

HomeWorks, which already provides repairs services to the majority of our homes across the group, was successful after competing against external contractors as part of a competitive tender to provide services to the West Mercia Homes properties earlier this year.

Services to the Herefordshire properties will continue to be delivered by Caldicott & Sons.

The change will see the number of homes serviced by HomeWorks increase by 13% which will mean the HomeWorks team is set to grow, with 13 new engineers and staff coming on board to service the new properties. The contract award will also mean the significant growth of the team geographically, covering an area in excess of 800 square miles.

Steve Kirk, Director of HomeWorks, said: “This is really positive news for HomeWorks. It means that we now provide repairs services to 96% of the group’s homes.

“We went up against providers in a competitive tender and won the contract for Worcestershire on that basis which is great.

“We’re now working to make sure that everything is in place for when the service changes over to make sure it is as seamless as possible.”

We will be communicating with WM Homes residents affected by the changes in the coming weeks and our Customer Service Centre has been briefed on the changes to make sure the transition is smooth for residents booking repairs either over the phone or via My Account.
